Stuart Reid is an accomplished children's book author who has written eight books in the highly successful Gorgeous George series. He came into Offbeat during the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe to record his first Audio book from his latest book Gorgeous George and the Incredible Iron Bru Man Incident in between performing two shows per day at the festival. This is a testament to Stuarts incredible energy and enthusiasm.
Recording Stuart was extremely entertaining too and I have to say I was enthralled throughout. The way he weaved an extremely funny and fantastical tale with current climate change issues was also very inspiring and illuminating too.
The recording was peppered with sound effects, some of which we created in the studio and some which Stuart had prepared in advance.
Creating an audio book can be quite an arduous process but when we got to the end of the book I was genuinely gutted that the experience was over. Stuart is a natural performer and the audio book platform is perfect for his novels. We hope very much to have him back in the studio again for future audio book projects!

Stuart Reid is 52 years old and lives in Falkirk with his wife and two children
His first book Gorgeous George and the Giant Geriatric Generator, was released in 2011. It is the story of a fictitious town where people go missing, and the main character sets out to find them. His books are beautifully illustrated by John Pender.
