Behind the Scenes of a Landmark Audiobook Recording

Nicola Sturgeon’s memoir Frankly, published by Macmillan Audio, was recorded at Offbeat Studios on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Produced and directed by Iain McKinna and co-directed by Olivia Caw, the sessions captured her voice with clarity and authenticity for a release that’s already attracting significant media attention.

When Nicola Sturgeon came to record her memoir Frankly for Macmillan Audio, she chose to do it right here on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile at Offbeat Studios.

Over several recording sessions, we worked closely with Nicola to capture her voice with the clarity, warmth, and authenticity the audiobook deserves. Producing and directing this project was a privilege, ensuring every moment sounded exactly as she intended.

The audiobook is released on Thursday 14th August 2025 and will be available from all major audiobook platforms.
