IPDTL stands for Internet Protocol Down The Line and it's another way of sending and receiving high quality audio over the Internet. A fast internet connection is required for it to work efficiently.
It's used a lot by Internet radio stations and there are different paid version depending on a studio's requirements. Offbeat used it to transmit the Iain Dale Show on LBC radio when he was in Edinburgh performing his Fringe Show.

In its simplest form, ipDTL connects one computer to another, giving 2-way audio between web browsers, using the wideband low delay Opus codec. SIP is the protocol for connecting between studios, which has replaced ISDN. ipDTL includes SIP calling as standard.
Unlike Source Connect Standard and Pro, it doesn't have a stand alone app and uses Web Browsers to communicate between studios. Chrome is the recommended browser.
Your choice of microphone and/or sound interface is crucial to the audio quality of ipDTL. The on-board sound-card in most PCs will produce unwanted noise.
