It's been a crazy busy Summer and Edinburgh Fringe here at the Offbeat Studio.
As well as producing various Audiobooks throughout the Summer we have been busy during the Fringe broadcasting:
The Iain Dale Show on LBC/Global.
Utilising IPDTL (Internet Protocol Down The Line) technology studios are now able to broadcast full quality over the internet using Google Chrome. This has really opened up the opportunities here at Offbeat to hook up with other studios anywhere on the planet that has an internet connection.
Having tried this unsuccessfully in the past, due to a pesky delay on the line that makes communication impossible because hearing your own voice echoing back to you is not good, we finally resolved the issue and the results are impressive.
The Iain Dale show was broadcast LIVE so there is no room for mistakes and juggling Iain's broadcast while he responds to a phone in throughout the 3 hour show in between adverts and News broadcasts every half hour was a task that made everything else we do here at Offbeat relatively simple.

Terribly Famous Podcast for Wondery and produced by Loftus Media
Recording episodes 3 & 4 of this podcast was a blast. Working with Loftus Media producers on Zoom with presenters Emily Lloyd-Saini and Anna Leong Brophy was another great opportunity and experience for Offbeat.
Using Zoom the producers directed the presenters straight through to their headphones while we recorded the various sections of the show and sent them to the studio in London for final editing and production.
These episodes focused on Victoria Beckham and it was amazing to experience these hilarious presenters reading off the script so naturally and adding their own adlibs, which in the studio isn't easy when that red light goes on. Especially when it involves such a one dimensional character as Posh Becks.
'Step into the glitzy world of Terribly Famous, an exciting weekly podcast that explores the lives of your favorite stars. Hosted by Anna Leong Brophy and Emily Lloyd-Saini, the show takes you on a thrilling journey through the ups and downs of iconic celebrities. From the down-to-earth British diva, Adele, to the regular boys in the world’s biggest boyband, each series is a rollercoaster of fame and fortune'.
SKY GLASS - SKY TV - SKY CINEMA
One great byproduct of working with Emily Lloyd-Saini was that she is the voice of many SKY TV adverts so in the last two weeks of the Fringe, in which she was performing her show .... with fellow presenter Anna Leong Brophy, she was called in to the studio to record a series of adverts down the line to various studio in Soho, London using Source Connect technology.
This has put us firmly on the map with both SKY and the studios and production houses in question including Absolute Post, Atomised Studio and Sky Post in Soho London, to which we are eternally grateful!
CHANNEL 4 - SCOTLAND v ENGLAND (not so friendly) with Jack Lowden & David Morrissey
Jack Lowden came into the studio (or more accurately up to the studio) to record an advert for Channel 4 by producer Paul Gleeson, with David Morrissey in a studio in London to publicise the forthcoming Scotland v England friendly which takes place in September.
It involved some sparky banter between both sides which was very amusing to record, each breaking out into some renditions of football songs and generally trying to outdo each other during the good humoured but slightly barbed exchange which will be broadcast ahead of the game.
Channel 4 are not previously known for broadcasting football so they are keen to promote this historically important occasion.
