Mike Heron ‘Where The Mystics Swim’ Album
MIKE HERON was co-founder of The Incredible String Band in 1966 with Robin Williamson. The band were cited by both The Beatles and Led Zeppelin as an important influence. They appeared at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969 and famously ‘almost’ didn’t play because it was raining!
Iain produced and played Keyboards on Where The Mystics Swim for Demon Records in 1995 which was Mike’s first solo album for 17 years. Other musicians on the album were John Rutherford on Acoustic guitar, Stewart Smith on Bass and Dave Haswell on percussion. Tracks from the album also feature on ‘Echo Coming Back’ , a compilation album of the best of Mike Heron.
It was recorded at Dave Haswell’s cottage just outside Edinburgh using two Adat 8 tracks, outboard signal processors and a hired mixer and mics etc. After the performances which took around 3 weeks to record, the album was mixed at Edinburgh’s Palladium Studios.
