John McNairn ‘Borderland’ Album

John McNairn - Back in the day john mcnairn nowSinger/Songwriter JOHN McNAIRN always had a love of the Border Ballads and over the years he developed his own versions of the songs. John decided to make an album of these versions and spent just over two hours in the studio on a weekly basis for around 9 months to complete the project.

In the early seventies John and Iain played acoustic guitars as a duo and appeared at several gigs in Edinburgh and in 1976 Iain joined John’s band ‘The Other band’ and gigged extensively for just over a year, This musical background was brought back to life 25 years later for Borderland.

Other musicians who guested on the album were Dave Paton, (co-founder of Pilot and bassist with Elton John & Kate Bush and The Alan Parsons project). Ben Ivitsky (The Peatbog faeries & Eliza Carthy) & percussionist Dave Haswell.

The album is distributed by Highlander Music.
