FAQ 4/ IS USING A PRODUCER EXPENSIVE AND HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY?

Using a producer who can help you achieve what you want will actually save you money. It's very easy to spend a lot in a studio and not get a usable result.

When scheduling a session within a budget, one successful method Offbeat recommends is recording for maximum of 4 hour sessions. It's surprising what can be achieved with space in between to rehearse and think about the next session. Once tiredness creeps in it takes longer to do things so it makes sense to work flat out for shorter sessions.

Offbeat always organise a detailed schedule before commencing. With careful planning, work done in the studio can be kept to a minimum. The more prepared and rehearsed you are for the session the more money you will save in the studio.

Offbeat has some clients who have home recording or computer set ups and can establish the main body of the tracks before coming in to Offbeat. We often end up replacing parts here but often the takes done at home are usable.

The producers advance/royalty is seperate from the recording budget. If employed by a record/film company, a producer is normally paid an advance on royalties. The amount of this advance depends on the budget of the recording and the scale of the project. The royalty is based on a modest percentage of sales (3-5%). The percentage depends on the amount advanced. Contact us to ask about the options on offer.

Please note, Offbeat is not a promotion company, when the recording is complete it's normally the job of the artist, and or the record/management company to undertake the promotion of a recording.
