FAQ 1- What is Offbeat?
Offbeat is a music production company and recording studio based in Edinburgh which was established in 1992. The studio was set up for all kinds of projects including our own music. We have achieved worldwide recognition for our recordings and productions working for major and independent record companies as well as for artists engaged in self funded projects.
Iain McKinna creates a diverse range of music both as a performing artist MD and a producer with chart success. with over 30 years in the industry. His experience as a multi-instrumentalist makes him a popular choice with songwriters and solo artists who require musical accompaniment.
Brian White aka Spytec is currently working as engineer and producer for Hip Hop and Drum + Bass projects here at the studio. He has recorded three albums mixing Buster Rhymes, the soundtrack from Bullet and his own beats along with Paul McKinna. He is an ideal choice of producer for contemporary rhythm based projects.
Paul McKinna, Iain's son, has been making music since an early age and has gained recognition for his unique electronic productions and drum programming. As a member of hip hop act Great Ezcape his productions have achieved regular BBC radio 1, Radio Scotland, Kiss FM and 1xtra airplay. Paul wrote music for 20th century Fox trailer of Meet The Spartans and has also had music used by Disney.
Nik Paget-Tomlinson Nik is an accomplishes musician and producer who has been in the business for over 10years. recent productions include Jazz singer Jess Abrams and Singer/Songwriter and keyboard player Mike Kearney. He also has produced two albums of his own with partner Niroshini under the name Puchi as well as music project Three Bag Brew. Nik plays guitar/bass and drums.
