After its first
four weeks since it's release on Universal Records
the album was the 2007 Xmas no1 in the UK Classical
charts and reached no11 in the UK Album charts.
Jon Cohen is one of the UK's leading
producers of Classical "Crossover" music.
Jon was working with Offbeat's Iain McKinna as
head engineer for the project at Edinburgh's Heartbeat
Studios with engineer Ed Logan on a new crossover
classical album for UNIVERSAL RECORDS. It was
the first time any of the team had worked together.
The album, entitled Spirit Of The Glen
by The Scots Dragoon Guards, was the
result of a million pound deal for the band and
was for released on 26th November 2007. The band
have previously worked with Mark Knopfler and
Mike Oldfield and had a no1 in 1972 with Amazing
Grace, earning them 13 gold discs.
Jon
has also written and produced records for all
UK major classical labels and for artists such
as
Vanessa-Mae and Operababes and The Sugababes.
In 2006 Jon arranged and produced the album
Voices of The Valley by the Fron Male Choir. The
album went gold in under a week and has gone
on to become the fastest selling classical record
ever. Jon's productions have earned him a no1
and no2 in the classical charts at the same time.
