Great Ezcape is a collaboration between Emcees Profisee & Simba and producer Vigilante aka Paul McKinna. Following the release of Great Ezcape's debut E.P. Escapades, I got back in the studio to record the follow up E.P. Houdini. I wrote the beat for Trouble Man at home on my macmini w/ Logic Express usinga sample from a Marvin Gaye track called T plays it cool from the Trouble Man soundtrack which I chopped into 16th's & rearranged before adding my own beats, bass, & brass. Then I imported the files into Logic Pro in the studio and did the basic mix with the benefits of the Metric Halo & Genelec monitors. After Profisee & Simba had written & reheased their verses, we came back into the studio to record the vocals through the Rode Classic microphone and Focusrite compressor. Once the vocals were balanced and completed, I started utilising the Logic & Wave plug-ins to do the final mixdown. After the 1st draft, the 3 of us listen & discuss the track so I can make any final ammendments. Once I have the mix, I test it through various systems in nightclubs, homes, mp3 players and then come back to Offbeat to do the final master.
